ACLS vs PALS in Miami: Which Course Do Clinicians Need?

Adult and infant CPR manikins side by side in an advanced life support training room

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are different American Heart Association advanced courses. PulseStart teaches both through the HeartCode blended path in Miami. Which one you need is decided by your employer, school, or credentialing body — we do not invent role rules. If your paperwork names one of them, book that course. If it is ambiguous, call us with the exact wording and we will help you match the card — after you confirm with HR or your program when needed.

Direct answer: employer or school decides

  • Do I need ACLS or PALS? Whatever your employer, school, or board lists. Confirm with them if the posting only says “advanced life support.”
  • Can PulseStart decide for my job? We can explain what each course covers and how to enroll. We cannot invent workplace policy.
  • What if I need both? Take each course (and each HeartCode online + skills path) as required — they are separate cards.
  • Still on BLS only? Many clinicians start with BLS. ACLS/PALS are additional when named.

What ACLS covers

ACLS is the AHA advanced course focused on adult cardiovascular emergencies and team-based resuscitation (as described on PulseStart’s ACLS course page). At PulseStart, ACLS is delivered as HeartCode ACLS online + in-person skills.

  • AHA online: currently $173, purchased separately (HeartCode ACLS online)
  • PulseStart skills session: $110
  • Email online completion to Sales@pulsestartnow.com, then attend skills
  • Same-day AHA ACLS eCard when you pass skills; valid 2 years

What PALS covers

PALS is the AHA advanced course focused on pediatric emergency care and resuscitation for infants and children (as described on PulseStart’s PALS course page). Audience listed on that page includes nurses, EMTs, paramedics, dental & medical staff, and healthcare students — again, your employer or school decides if PALS is required for your role.

  • AHA online: currently $173, purchased separately
  • PulseStart skills session: $110
  • Email completion → skills → same-day AHA PALS eCard when you pass; valid 2 years

Frequently asked questions

Do I need ACLS or PALS?

Ask your employer, school, or credentialing body. PulseStart explains what each course covers and how to enroll. We do not invent which clinicians “must” hold which card.

What’s the difference between ACLS and PALS?

ACLS focuses on adult advanced cardiovascular life support. PALS focuses on pediatric advanced life support. Both are AHA advanced courses. At PulseStart both use HeartCode online + skills. See ACLS and PALS.

Can I take PALS instead of ACLS (or vice versa)?

Only if your requirement allows it. The cards are not interchangeable. Confirm before you pay for online or skills.

How much do ACLS and PALS cost at PulseStart?

Each path: AHA HeartCode online $173 (separate) + PulseStart skills $110. Do not treat $110 as if it included the online portion.

Do I get the card the same day?

Yes — when you pass the skills session. Online completion alone does not issue the card. See same-day AHA eCard Miami.

Is BLS required before ACLS or PALS?

Many employers expect a current BLS alongside advanced cards, but PulseStart’s verified facts for this page do not state a universal prerequisite rule. Confirm with your employer or school, and ask us when you book if you need BLS on the same visit. BLS page: BLS certification Miami.

Who is PALS for according to PulseStart’s site?

The PALS page lists nurses, EMTs, paramedics, dental & medical staff, and healthcare students among audiences. That is an audience description — not a rule that every person in those roles must take PALS.

How do I book?

Finish HeartCode online → email Sales@pulsestartnow.com → book skills on the schedule or call (786) 292-8277.
