Can I Take AHA BLS Online in Miami? HeartCode BLS + Skills Check

Yes, partly: you can do the AHA HeartCode BLS online course on your own time, but you must finish with an in-person hands-on skills check before an American Heart Association BLS card is issued. PulseStart runs that skills check in Miami for $60, and you receive your AHA eCard the same day you pass.

How HeartCode BLS blended learning works

  1. Online part: buy and complete HeartCode BLS directly from the American Heart Association. It is sold separately by AHA and is not included in our $60 fee.
  2. Bring proof: save your HeartCode completion certificate and bring it to class.
  3. Skills check: practice and test adult, child and infant CPR, AED use, bag-mask ventilation and team rescue with a PulseStart instructor at 3399 NW 72nd Ave, Suite 208-B, Miami, FL 33122.
  4. Card: pass and your AHA BLS eCard is issued the same day. See how same-day AHA eCards work.

Why 100% online BLS cards are not AHA-valid

The American Heart Association requires a hands-on skills session with an AHA instructor for every BLS card. Websites that sell “instant” online-only BLS cards are not issuing AHA cards, and hospitals, nursing programs and EMS agencies that ask for AHA BLS will usually reject them. If a price looks too easy, check whether a live skills check is included.

Blended vs. all-in-person BLS

  • HeartCode BLS skills check — $60 plus the AHA online course bought from AHA. Best if you like self-paced learning and want a short visit.
  • All-in-person BLS — $100 (BLS renewal is also $100). Everything happens in one classroom session with no online module. Details on our BLS certification Miami page.
