CPR & BLS Classes for Miami Beach

Miami Beach sits about 17 miles from PulseStart’s Doral training location — typically 30 to 40 minutes once you’re across the causeway, longer during snowbird season or a Convention Center event. That’s workable for one nurse or one restaurant manager who wants a same-day AHA BLS, CPR/AED, or First Aid card. It’s a harder sell for a hotel’s entire pool, banquet, and security staff — which is why most Miami Beach bookings run the other way: instructors from our team, an American Heart Association Training Site and an American Red Cross and ASHI Training Center staffed by working South Florida firefighters and paramedics, cross the causeway with manikins and AED trainers instead of asking a dozen employees to cross it themselves.

Hospitality, lifeguards, and a hospital that never really closes

Miami Beach runs on tourism and one very busy hospital. Mount Sinai Medical Center keeps clinical staff cycling through BLS and ACLS renewals continuously. Around it sits a hospitality economy that dwarfs the hospital in headcount: leisure and hospitality is one of Miami-Dade’s largest employment sectors, and a single beachfront resort can run hundreds of rooms on its own. Pool attendants, lifeguards, banquet captains, concierge staff, and security teams all need the same AED-readiness a hospital floor does, just under a beach umbrella instead of a nurses’ station. Classes run in English and Spanish, which matters in a workforce this international. Add the Miami Beach Convention Center, which fills for Art Basel every December, and event staffing joins the mix on a seasonal cycle rather than a steady one.

Ocean Rescue lifeguards are their own category. Lifeguard programs in the area are commonly built around CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer plus First Aid.

Courses Miami Beach hospitality and healthcare teams book

For a whole department at once, corporate and on-site training is the faster path.

Why on-site beats the causeway for most Miami Beach teams

Two routes connect Miami Beach toward Doral: the MacArthur Causeway (I-395), more direct but prone to bottlenecks on cruise-ship days at PortMiami, and the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) a bit north, generally calmer at peak times. Either way, both continue west on SR-836 or SR-826 to reach NW 72nd Avenue.

That’s a reasonable trip for one person. It’s not a good use of a hotel’s Tuesday if eight lifeguards need the same card. On-site training is available across Miami-Dade, Miami Beach included — PulseStart brings the instructor, manikins, and AED trainers to the property, so a pool deck becomes the classroom. Bulk certification before season and big events

Miami Beach staffing swells and contracts with the calendar in a way inland areas don’t. Hotels ramp up seasonal hiring ahead of winter tourist season, and Art Basel week alone can mean days of near-total staffing at nearby properties. Employers who certify teams before the surge avoid discovering in December that half the banquet staff’s cards lapsed in November.

Scheduling around hospitality shifts

Hospitality shifts rarely run 9-to-5. Our Doral location runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturday sessions by appointment, and on-site sessions at your property can be scheduled around its slower hours instead of its busiest ones. BLS students who pass the skills check leave with an official AHA eCard the same day, not a follow-up email.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Miami Beach from the Doral training location, and which causeway is fastest? About 17 miles, typically 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. The Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) tends to run calmer than the MacArthur Causeway (I-395) at peak times, but both feed into the same westbound drive on SR-836 or SR-826.

Can PulseStart certify a hotel’s pool and lifeguard staff on-site? Yes. On-site training is available across Miami-Dade, and hotel groups regularly book CPR/AED and First Aid sessions for pool, lifeguard, and banquet teams at the property itself. See corporate training.

Do hospitality employers accept AHA CPR/AED cards for compliance? We teach official AHA courses, and the eCard issued on completion is broadly accepted by employers nationwide. Confirm any property-specific insurance or franchise requirement with your employer before relying on this for a compliance deadline.

Can you schedule around hospitality shift patterns? Our Doral location runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturdays by appointment. For a property, on-site sessions can be arranged around your own shift patterns — tell us what works.

Does availability change during Art Basel or other high-traffic event weeks? Possibly — Miami Beach’s biggest event weeks are also our busiest on-site booking season. Book earlier than usual around Art Basel in early December, and confirm current availability directly.

ACLS and PALS are HeartCode® blended courses: the AHA online portion is purchased separately from the American Heart Association (currently $173) and completed before the in-person skills session. See the healthcare certification hub for the full breakdown.
