How to Get CPR Certified in Miami: Pick the Right AHA Course

Instructor guiding students through CPR practice on manikins in a bright Miami training classroom

“CPR certification” is not one product. It is a skill set taught inside several American Heart Association (AHA) courses — and, on this site, also inside a separate ASHI CPR & AED course. Heartsaver is for non-healthcare workplaces and schools. BLS for Healthcare Providers is what hospitals, clinics, and clinical programs typically require. ACLS and PALS are advanced courses for clinicians whose employer or school names them. If your paperwork only says “CPR,” start with the decision tree below — or call us with the exact wording and we will tell you which card to book.

Start here: what “CPR certified” usually means

People say they need to “get CPR certified” when they mean different cards. What changes is who the card is for, how deep the skills go, and which agency issues the card.

  • Teacher, coach, childcare, gym, hotel, office, or other non-clinical role → AHA Heartsaver — CPR/AED with First Aid · AHA hub
  • Nurse, EMT, paramedic, dental or medical staff, or healthcare student → AHA BLS Provider — BLS certification Miami
  • Clinician whose employer or school names ACLS → AHA ACLS (HeartCode online + skills) — ACLS certification Miami
  • Clinician whose employer or school names PALS → AHA PALS (HeartCode online + skills) — PALS certification Miami
  • Unsure — paperwork only says “CPR” → Call with the exact wording — (786) 292-8277

Decision tree — which course do you book?

  1. Clinical role, patient care, or a nursing / medical / dental / EMS / healthcare program → Book BLS Provider.
  2. Employer or school names ACLS → Complete HeartCode ACLS online, email completion to Sales@pulsestartnow.com, then attend skills. Details: ACLS and HeartCode skills.
  3. Employer or school names PALS → Same HeartCode pattern for PALS. Details: PALS. Comparing ACLS and PALS: ACLS vs PALS in Miami when published.
  4. Non-clinical workplace, school, daycare, gym, hotel, church, or office safety team → Book Heartsaver. Use Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED when First Aid is required.
  5. Mixed dental or medical office → Clinical staff → BLS; front desk and non-clinical staff → Heartsaver.
  6. Still unsure → Call (786) 292-8277 with the exact line from HR, your handbook, or the job posting.

Layperson paths (Heartsaver and ASHI)

Heartsaver is the AHA line for people who are not healthcare providers. Verified on the live Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED page:

  • Price: $100
  • Length: approximately 2 to 3 hours
  • Format: entirely in person — no online modules required
  • Card: same-day AHA Heartsaver card when you pass skills
  • Validity: 2 years
  • Not for healthcare professionals or nursing/medical students (per that course page)

Course page: CPR, AED & First Aid classes in Miami. Standalone Heartsaver options: AHA hub; First Aid only is listed at $75 on the homepage — ask when you book.

ASHI CPR & AED is a different agency — not AHA Heartsaver. Verified: $80, ~2–3 hours, same-day ASHI card. Page: CPR & AED certification Miami.

Healthcare provider paths (BLS, ACLS, PALS)

BLS for Healthcare Providers — all in person at PulseStart (no online module for this path):

ACLS and PALS at PulseStart follow the HeartCode blended path:

Do not invent which clinicians “must” take ACLS vs PALS — your employer or school decides. See ACLS vs PALS in Miami when that page is live.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get CPR certified in Miami?

Decide which card you need, then book that course. Non-clinical workplaces usually need Heartsaver. Clinical roles and healthcare students usually need BLS. If your employer names ACLS or PALS, take that HeartCode path. Enroll on the schedule or call (786) 292-8277. Use the decision tree on this page — do not guess from a vague “CPR” line alone.

Is “CPR certification” the same as BLS?

No. CPR is the skill set. BLS is the AHA healthcare-provider course. Lay workplaces usually need Heartsaver, not BLS. More detail: CPR vs BLS vs Heartsaver.

Which course do nursing or medical students need?

Book BLS for Healthcare Providers. Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED is not designed for healthcare professionals or nursing/medical students. See CPR for nursing students in Miami.

Do I need ACLS or PALS as well as BLS?

Only if your employer or school requires it. PulseStart does not invent role rules. Compare coverage on ACLS vs PALS and confirm with HR or your program.

How much does it cost to get certified at PulseStart?

Verified individual prices: BLS $100; Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED $100; First Aid only $75 (homepage); ASHI CPR & AED $80; ACLS or PALS skills $110 plus AHA HeartCode online $173 separate. Group pricing is on request — ask for a quote.

Can I get my card the same day?

Yes, when you pass skills in the in-person session — same-day AHA eCard for AHA courses (same-day ASHI card for the ASHI course). For ACLS/PALS you must finish HeartCode online first. See same-day AHA eCard Miami.

Do you teach in Spanish?

Yes — ask for Spanish when you book. Details: clases de RCP y BLS en español.
