Healthcare CPR Certification in Miami: BLS, ACLS and PALS

Healthcare workers in Miami can get AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certified or renewed at PulseStart in Doral. BLS is $100 and runs 2 to 3 hours entirely in person, with a same-day eCard. ACLS and PALS are $110 each as HeartCode blended courses — you complete the AHA online portion first (purchased separately from the AHA), then come in for the in-person skills session. Cards are valid two years and are accepted by hospitals, healthcare employers and licensing boards nationwide.

We are a firefighter- and paramedic-owned American Heart Association Training Site at 3399 NW 72nd Ave, Suite 208-B, Miami, FL 33122 — minutes from Doral, MIA, the Palmetto and the 836.

BLS Provider — $100

BLS is the baseline card for anyone who touches patients. Taught entirely in person — no online modules to finish first, no e-learning receipt to chase down.

You cover high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants; the Chain of Survival; effective chest compressions, barrier devices and rescue breathing; AED use; team dynamics in multi-rescuer resuscitation; and relief of choking. Course length is about 2 to 3 hours, and the AHA BLS Provider eCard is issued the same day.

ACLS — $110 plus the AHA online course

Run as a HeartCode® blended course: the AHA online portion first, then an in-person skills session with one of our instructors.

The online half covers rhythm recognition, the ACLS algorithms, airway management and pharmacology, at your own pace. The in-person half is where you demonstrate the skills — prioritizing chest compressions, integrating advanced interventions, and working as both team member and team leader.

The online portion is purchased separately from the AHA — currently $173 at shopcpr.heart.org, not included in our $110. Complete it, email your certificate to Sales@pulsestartnow.com, then attend your session. Detail on the ACLS certification in Miami page, or go straight to ACLS renewal in Miami.

PALS — $110 plus the AHA online course

Also HeartCode blended, same two-step structure. The online portion covers pediatric assessment, respiratory distress and shock, the pediatric arrest algorithms and post-resuscitation care. The in-person session works case scenarios and skills testing on infant and child manikins.

As with ACLS, the AHA online course is purchased separately (currently $173) and its certificate must reach Sales@pulsestartnow.com before your session. Detail on the PALS certification in Miami page, or see PALS renewal in Miami.

HeartCode blended: how the halves fit together

HeartCode is not a shortcut and not an “online certification” — no legitimate AHA card is issued without a hands-on skills evaluation with a live instructor. It moves the cognitive half out of the classroom so your in-person time is spent on your hands, not on slides.

Three things people get wrong:

  1. The AHA online course is bought from the AHA, not from us. Our $110 is the skills session. Budget for both.
  2. Do not finish the online portion and sit on it. AHA completion certificates carry an expiry window, so schedule your skills session while the certificate is fresh.
  3. Bring the certificate. Email it ahead and bring a copy. No certificate, no skills session.

Skills sessions

A skills session is the in-person half of a blended course. We run them at our Doral location and, for teams, at your facility. Bring your HeartCode completion certificate, photo ID, and clothes you can kneel in. We supply manikins, AED trainers, bag-mask devices and AHA materials.

Completed HeartCode through your employer or another program and just need testing and a card? Email the certificate to Sales@pulsestartnow.com and we will confirm before you book.

Renewals

An AHA provider card is good for two years, and renewal is not automatic. Two practical rules:

Start early. For ACLS and PALS you have an AHA online course to buy and finish before you can attend the skills session. Leaving it to the last week is how people end up off the schedule.

Tell us if your card already lapsed. We would rather put you in the right session than turn you away at the door, and your employer may want the lapse documented.

Which certification does your role need?

Requirements vary by employer, unit and licensing body. Below is what we see most often in South Florida — always check with your employer, school or program before booking, because two units in the same hospital can want different things.

Nurses

Every nurse needs BLS. Beyond that it is unit-driven: ICU, ED, PACU, cath lab, telemetry and most float-pool roles want ACLS; PICU, NICU, pediatric ED and pediatric transport commonly add PALS, and some L&D units want NRP instead. Travel and agency nurses should carry all three current, because a contract can change your unit on a week’s notice.

Physicians

Emergency medicine, critical care, anesthesia, cardiology, hospitalist and surgical roles almost always require current ACLS with BLS underneath. Pediatrics and pediatric anesthesia add PALS. Outpatient physicians are usually required to hold BLS at minimum, and any office doing moderate or deep sedation typically needs ACLS on site. Confirm the list with your credentialing office.

Physician assistants and nurse practitioners

Same logic, driven by practice setting. BLS is near-universal. ACLS is standard for emergency, critical care, hospitalist, surgical and cardiology practice, and for clinics performing sedation or stress testing. PALS where the patient population includes children.

EMTs and paramedics

BLS is the floor for EMTs. Paramedics carry ACLS and PALS as a matter of course, and most Florida agencies and hospital-based transport services require all three current, checked at hire and at every renewal. Ask us about scheduling all three efficiently.

Respiratory therapists

BLS always. ACLS for hospital-based RTs on code teams, in the ICU or on rapid response — in practice, most hospital RTs. PALS for NICU, PICU and pediatric transport. RTs are often the airway on the code team, which is exactly what the in-person half of ACLS drills.

Medical assistants

Most MA roles require BLS — and here is the common mistake: some employers accept a Heartsaver CPR/AED card, but many clinics, urgent cares and hospital-owned practices specifically require BLS for Healthcare Providers. Different course, different card. If your offer letter says “BLS,” book BLS. If it says “CPR” with no detail, ask before you pay — the CPR, AED and First Aid class is the Heartsaver option if your employer confirms it is acceptable.

Nursing and medical students

Programs require BLS Provider before clinical rotations, and the card has to stay current through the end of the rotation — not expire halfway through. Some programs add ACLS in the final year, and many residency programs want ACLS in hand at orientation. Check your handbook wording: “CPR certification” there almost always means AHA BLS Provider. See CPR certification for nursing students in Miami.
